Promotion requirements

Leading Air Cadet (LAC)

To be granted this rank, a Cadet must:

  • Participate in the first year of the proficiency level training program for a minimum period of five months.

  • Be recommended by the appropriate officer/flight commander.

  • Submit a promotion application form before the deadline.

Corporal (Cpl)

To be granted this rank, a Cadet must:

  • Hold the rank of LAC.

  • Successfully complete year one of the Air Cadet Proficiency Level Training Program.

  • Be recommended by the appropriate officer/flight commander.

  • Have participated in the Cadet Fitness Assessment as part of Personal Fitness and Healthy Living.

  • Submit a promotion application form before the deadline.

Flight Corporal (F/Cpl)

To be granted this rank, a Cadet must:

  • Have completed at least six months at the rank of Cpl.

  • Have successfully completed the second year of the Air Cadet Proficiency Level Training Program.

  • Be recommended by the appropriate officer/flight commander.

  • Have participated in the Cadet Fitness Assessment as part of Personal Fitness and Healthy Living.

  • Submit a promotion application form along with a letter stating why you deserve to be promoted.

Sergeant (Sgt)

To be granted this rank, a Cadet must:

  • Have completed at least six months at the rank of FCpl.

  • Have successfully completed the third year of the Air Cadet Proficiency Level Training Program.

  • Be recommended by the appropriate officer/flight commander.

  • Have participated in the Cadet Fitness Assessment as part of Personal Fitness and Healthy Living.

  • Have achieved a minimum of "Completed Without Difficulty" in PO 303 Leadership.

  • Submit a promotion application form along with a formal memo about being promoted.

Flight Sergeant (F/Sgt)

To be granted this rank, a Cadet must:

  • Have completed at least six months at the rank of Sgt.

  • Have successfully completed the fourth year of the Air Cadet Proficiency Level Training Program.

  • Be recommended by the appropriate officer/flight commander.

  • Have participated in the Cadet Fitness Assessment as part of Personal Fitness and Healthy Living.

  • Have achieved a minimum of "Completed Without Difficulty" in PO 403 Leadership.

  • Submit a promotion application form along with a Cadet resume.

Warrant Officer Second Class (WO2)

To be granted this rank, a Cadet must:

  • Have completed at least six months at the rank of FSgt.

  • Be identified as a successful candidate through the merit review board process.

  • Be recommended by the appropriate officer/flight commander.

  • Have participated in the Cadet Fitness Assessment as part of Personal Fitness and Healthy Living.

  • Have achieved a minimum of "Completed Without Difficulty" in PO 503 Leadership.

  • Be invited to a Warrant Officer Second Class Review Board.

  • Write and hand in a Cadet resume.

Warrant Officer First Class (WO1)

To be granted this rank, a Cadet must:

  • Have completed at least six months at the rank of WO2

  • Be identified as a successful candidate through the merit review board process

  • Be recommended by the appropriate officer/flight commander

  • Be invited to a Warrant Officer First Class Review Board.
