NIGHT MARKET

The band will be performing at the Richmond Night Market on Jun 24th. The performance will start at 9:30pm. Come and support Griffin and enjoy some bubble tea!

CANADA DAY

Our squadron will be parading around the Steveston area on July 1st. Arrival time: 9:00am, Pick up time: 11am. Dress: Summer dress (C5s or Black & White). See below for the map of the full parade.

All cadets are required to set up their Cadet365 emails. It is recommended to download Microsoft Outlook and MS Teams to your phones if you haven’t already done so already.

Range

If you are interested in attending practice on 29 May 23, please sign up with WO2 Wong, Kyle. Note that there are only three more range practices remaining this training year, so if you haven’t attended a practice yet, then please ensure that you do so. It is required for all levels 1-4 cadets to attend a minimum of one practice to complete the training requirement.

Band

Band practice happens every Tuesday at Manoah Steves Elementary School from 1830 to 2030 hours. If you are interested, please see WO2 Chan.

Announcements For 05 Oct 2022 Training Night

  1. 609 RCACS 15 Years Anniversary

    • Did yu know 609 is becoming 15 years old soon? To be part of the celebration, we invite all cadets to enter a 15th Anniversary Logo Contest. Winner’s design will be used for 15th anniversary memorabilia and winner will receive one of all items that the design was used (ie T-shirt, hoodie etc.)

    • To submit your design, you must have access to Cadet365 and by clicking here

  2. Field Training Exercise (FTX) Operation FireFox

    • Date: 21 - 23 Oct 2022

    • Training Location: Pierce Creek, Chilliwack, BC

    • Drop-off: South Arm Community Centre at 1730hr on 21 Oct 2022. Bus leaves at 1800hr

    • Pickup: South Arm Community Centre at 1530hr on 23 Oct 2022. Actual arrival time will be updated via social media or chain of command

    • Permission form and sign up sheet are available for the next two training nights.

  3. First Aid and Range Practices are cancelled next Monday 10 Oct 2022 due to the Thanksgiving Hoilday

SAVE THE DATE! Field Training Exercise (FTX)

We will be conducting an FTX on Oct 21-23 out in Chilliwack. Although more details will be announced later However, expect the following:

  • Date: Oct 21-23

  • This will be an overnight event (2 nights)

  • Food will be provided for Saturday (3 meals) and Sunday (2 meals). No meals provided for Friday

  • We will be outdoors - dress for the weather.

A permission forms and kit list will be handed out to all cadets one two weeks prior to the FTX.

21 Sep 2022 Training Night Announcements  

ADMIN 

  • If you attended Registration Night last week and took your Annual Validation Form home to complete, please return a completed digital copy to my email at dominic.li@cadets.gc.ca. Also, for next week when we return to training, please return a physical copy. 

 

  • For those that returned for the first time today, you should’ve received an email tonight with your Annual Validation Form and Cadet365 Login. Please return a completed digital copy to my email at dominic.li@cadets.gc.ca. Also, for next week when we return to training, please return a physical copy to CI Li 

 

  • For those that received their Cadet365 Account, You can login in to Cadet 365 via https://www.office.com/ or on any Microsoft App (e.g. MS Teams). When you first log in, you will be prompted to create your own password. Please write down that password somewhere so you won’t lose it.  

 

  • All Cadets will need to complete the “Cyber Awareness Course” on Cadet365. To access the Course, please login to MS Teams using the Cadet365 Login. Click on Teams on the Left Bar and Click on the T-PAC-609-Air Team. Then, click on the “Cyber Awareness Course” Tab to open up the course to complete.  

SUMMER CAMPS 

  • If you would like to apply to the Glider or Power Training Courses in Summer 2023, signups for Glider and Power Online Ground School are officially open.  You must partake in the Online Ground School in order to proceed with your Glider or Power application. Deadline to apply is Friday, October 14. SQUADRON TEAMS & EXTRA-CURICULARS  

  • The first range practice will be this coming Monday at the Richmond Rod and Gun Club from 1830-2100 hours. It will be open to all cadets. Note that if you are levels 1-4, you are required to attend a minimum of one range practice this year. If you are interested, please email 2Lt Situ at yang.situ@cadets.gc.ca

Virtual Training 21 Sep 2022

McMath Secondary is not available for us this coming Wednesday (21 Sept 2022) and training will be held virtually at 6:30pm. Dress will still be in summer dress and new recruits will wear white dress shirt, black tie and black pants.

  • Activities: Registration for New and Returning Cadets

    • Level 4 & above: Summer Dress.

    • Level 3 & below & New Cadets: Appropriate Civilian Clothing.

Normal Training Nights will return to McMath Secondary School start on 21 Sep 2022, 6:30pm to 9:30pm.

End of the Squadron 2021-2022 training year

Training at the local squadron level had concluded for the summer. Training will resume in September.

MAY 25 ANNOUNCEMENTS

  1. Next week June 1st is the Annual Ceremonial Review (ACR)! Make sure you show up fully dressed in your best looking uniform. If you are still missing a complete set of uniform, then you may come in the recruit black and white dress uniform. Please arrive promptly at 1830. Parents and guests are invited to attend as well.

  2. June 8th is our squadron movie night! To wrap up the training year, the whole squadron has been invited to watch the movie “Top Gun: Maverick” at the Silvercity Cineplex at Riverport. Please arrive by 1830 at Auditorium 13. More information on the directions to get to Auditorium 13 will follow shortly.

  3. Range practice is resuming this coming Monday from 1830-2100 hrs at the Richmond Rod & Gun Club. Spots are unfortunately full at this point. Cadets that have signed up will receive an email from FSgt Zahir.

MAY 11 ANNOUNCEMENTS

  1. Summer Camp registration has started! If you are still interested, please email either CI Li A or D. More information can also be found at the following links:

    To participate in OVERNIGHT CTC Summer Courses, Cadets must be “Fully Vaccinated” (Minimum 2 Doses). If you are not fully vaccinated 2 weeks prior to your course, you will not be able to attend your course.   2. The year end Annual Ceremonial Review (ACR) will be on June 1st Wednesday at McMath Secondary School. Make sure to mark it on your calendar!

  3. Range is now open to all cadets levels 1-4. Please sign up with FSgt Zahir if you wish to participate. Please note that there is currently a waiting list of a few weeks due to the capacity restrictions of the R&G Club.

  4. Band is taking place every Tuesday from 6:30-8:30pm at Homma Elementary School, if you are interested in joining, please email Sgt Chan.

  1. Band will be starting in person training again on April 19, 2022 at Homma Elementary School. If you are interested in joining the band, please contact Sgt Chan.

  2. Any level 3 and 4 cadets that wish to participate in range this coming Monday April 18th, please contact FSgt Zahir. Please note that there is a waiting list of two (or possibly more) weeks as capacity restrictions at the R&G Club are still in effect.

  3. Any cadets interested in playing on the squadron Basketball team, please contact Sgt Wickens. This is open to all cadets in the squadron!
